I seem to have been sitting here for some time staring at a blank screen with no inspiration for what to say. It's funny what a difference two years can make.
I remember it like yesterday when I was diagnosed with end stage renal failure in August 2010. I couldn't stop the words from flowing and having to try so had to make my blogs a sensible length. This continued until six months after my kidney transplant when I felt better and the words dried up.
So what's new? I am still doing extremely well :-) I consider myself lucky everyday as others in my position can suffer terribly. I still take a mountain of drugs everyday which take their toll and I like to take it easy, but I am on the slippery slope down to the big 4 0 you know!!
Most people don't realise that I am not actually "cured" of kidney disease, I am simply receiving the very best treatment which you can get in the form of mum's fantastic hard working kidney! The one which the doctors said was like a 19 year olds (mum loves telling this story!)
Mum is simply mum, she's still non stop and thankfully not suffering from any implications from donating a kidney. She has now finished building her house at our stables and is happily settled in. I can't thank mum enough for what she did for me, it still makes my eyes well up when I think about it.
Tomorrow I am taking mum on another pamper day in an attempt to show my gratitude for the sacrifice she made for me. Its always such fun to spend the day just relaxing and being spoil rotten!
Finally one thing that has been fantastic about the road which I have been on is the amazing friends I have made along the way. People who have often been in the same position as myself have become an important part of my life. Below is Caroline with her other half (another bald Trevor!) Although there are many miles between us, we made our journey at the same time and supported each other through the ups and downs which are inevitable. Now we are friends for life :-)
This truly is a heart warming and touching story. The sacrifice your Mom made is a serious matter because she has to live with only one kidney, and considering her age, it may be a bit difficult. Glad to know that both of you are doing pretty well and though you take heaps of medicines a day, it's still a gift that you are able to continue with your life like a normal person. Good luck with future endeavors, Tracy.

Hello Leora, sorry for not responding until now, I seem to only log into my blog now annually to put an update. We are still both really well with no complaints at all. Take care. Tracy xx
